Live Online Chat does cost a bit of money to run, even without the upgrades or search engine promotion. The basic costs of running LOC are listed below..

So LOC is based around 25 websites linking into the main homepage liveonlinechat.net. Each domain name costs (average depending on the extension) $10 per year, total $260.
Upgrades are always good to keep LOC fresh and full of features. So far, we have spent around $2000 on the chat room with the plugins and around $3000 on the community with all the plugins. Total of $5000 spent on software as it stands.
Promotion is a massive expense. We use a company called SubmitEdge to promote LOC to search engines, forums, blogs, social bookmarking sites and inbound links from other websites. The cost of this from January 2011 - November 2011 (11 months) has been just over $4400 at $400+ a month.
All of this has been paid for from donations, advertising revenue and 2 other businesses, britishtvanywhere.com and postfreeads.net.
There are many things that I would like to include in LOC, the next 4 things we will have, when the money is available, is the following.

2, A chat robot that will basically be in every room posting links to LOC and rules etc. This robot will also be used to create quizzes and a lot more. I am sure one of our admins will be able to develope this further (thank you Matt ;)), more here..

3, More plugins and modules on the community, including a full games arcade with high scores, sharing games on your profiles and the ability upload and share your own games to the community. No link available for this yet as it will be a custom job.
4, Affiliate program built into our internal advertising system. Our members, mods and admins will earn commission for selling advertising on LOC. This is also a custom job that is currently being worked on through a developer called SocialEngineAddons.
5, To keep us at the top, we need to have a large SEO promotion package put in place to last for at least 7 months. This is probably more vital than anything else, we want to get above the competition and bring in many more people to LOC, if this happens, more ads revenue will support more features.
